RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOLS AWARD
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) puts children’s rights at the heart of Alehousewells School.
Based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured, and they can thrive.
At Alehousewells School, our vision, values and aims give our learners the best chance to lead a happy, healthy life along with being responsible, active citizens. We work together as a team to make sure all children can enjoy all their rights.
Every child has rights, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status. The right to relax and play (article 31) and the right to freedom of expression (article 13) are as important as the right to be safe from violence (article 19) and the right to education (article 28). All children are rights holders and adults are duty bearers (responsible for making sure children’s rights are realised).
Alehousewells School are proud to have achieved the Bronze Rights Respecting
Award – Rights Committed. We are now excited to be on the journey to the Silver
Rights Respecting Award – Rights Aware, which will evidence our commitment
to ensuring that children’s rights are at the heart of all that we do.
